Mykonos

Renowned for its beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, Mykonos is one of the most famous Greek islands. Take a scenic drive along lovely beaches and through the quaint villages of Agios Ioannis, Ornos and Kalafatis en route to Ano Mera. While it is the second biggest town on Mykonos, Ano Mera has the small-town feel of a traditional island village. Here you will tour the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani, founded in 1542 and dedicated to the protector of the island.

According to Greek mythology, Delos was the birthplace of Apollo. The sanctuary of Apollo attracted pilgrims from all over Greece to this revered island, a UNESCO World Heritage site that bears traces of civilizations dating back as far as the third millennium BC. Vast excavations include grand homes, temples, market squares and avenues, including the remarkable Terrace of the Lions and the stunning mosaics of the House of the Dolphins.

This gastronomic tour begins with a drive across the island to the inland town of Ano Mera, home to the Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm. Here the Assimomitis (CK) family cultivates grapes using centuries-old techniques and is gaining acclaim for its Paraportiano-brand wines. After visiting the vineyards, you’ll sit down to taste their wines, which are served with the quintessential meze of Mykonos -- crumbly xinotyro cheese, the creamy and spicy kopanisti cheese, and louza, a cured pork – as well as farm-fresh eggs and tomatoes, and nuts.

Experience the timeless pleasures of sun, sea and sand on both a rural island and at a chic beach club on this excursion.
